Title: Disconnecting battery
Post by Marc1978 on Oct 18th, 2010, 1:31pm
Hi there,

I am about to replace the autobox in my 24v Cossie with a manual gearbox and before I start, I just wanted to check if there will be any issues in store if I simply disconnect the battery while I carry out the conversion. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Just the radio code, you may need to reprogramme the remote once you're done. (if you have one)  ;D

Ha ha, that I can handle. It's the PATS system that had me a little worried. Cheers.

Hi Matt, I'm using an MT75 from a 2.5 TD and also have the diff to throw in as well if it's still not geared right. Just modifying the bellhousing to take a hydraulic bearing and will use the flywheel and pressure plate from the Sierra 2.8 4x4 I have. As for the clutch, I have a brand new 2.5 TD one sat on the shelf gathering dust so will see if that fits.

you may find you have the same problems that i have with my clutch, which is

1. the clutch friction plate rattles when idling as its not dampened enough for a v6 engine

2. my spring plate doesn't seem to be man enough for the job if you want a quick get away (im using an escort cossie clutch) works no problems under normal driving but if you puch it hard it slips a bit, but then it wasnt designed for the 24v's brute power lol
