Title: On Board Trip Comp
Post by Scorp_Kev on Jan 3rd, 2011, 10:30am
Hi Again all. My trip computer keeps reverting to metric. i.e. Ltrs, Kilometeres etc. Every time I set it back, its fine, then after restarting the car, it goes metric. Any ideas guys.

Cheers, Kev

hi there

are the dials sweeping around at the same time (starting the car)?

if so, normally points to a failing battery.

Kev. Read This (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/battery.htm) before you go and make sure you get the right size  in terms of Capacity and CCA. (Cold cranking amps). ;)

Have you tried to charge it as it may be due to heavy drain and short trips, thats if you do that sort of thing. ::)

Yeah - everywhere I've ever been they always try and give me a round post 60ah battery for my Cosworth.  They always look surprised when I say it's the wrong battery.

"It's what's listed in the book" they say.  Well the books  wrong then isn't it!

Hard to find square post batteries now - think they were only used on Fords - you can get the converters from ebay or Maplins.

The type of terminal is known as ype 1+19 which are the flat ones in the correct polarity

BANNER BATTERIES (http://www.bannerbatterien.com/banner/home/index_en.php)

I used them for my scorpio as they supply different power ratings and easy to locate.

Mine does this only when weather is cold (brand new battery fitted oct 2010) but I put it down to doing short trips back an forth to hospital and few days gap in between, all I use car for now.

Right. New battery fitted and needle problems solved. One more windows problem now. All windows will open with one touch, but only the drivers will close. The others have to have the button pressed down ???

That's correct Kev.
Only the drivers window will close on 'one touch'.
All others open on 'one touch' but not close, that's how it is on mine anyway.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Reprogram the window positions: fully lower the window then press and hold the down button for 1 second, raise the window till closed and press and hold up button for 1 second
