Hi Steve

I've done the Autobox sump twice now in very short time.   Mainly because the 'Berk' that serviced the car before me put ordinary auto-box fluid in when the pipes failed.   I didn't use a torque wrench because with 35 years engineering experience you can 'feel' when a bolt is tight enough.    However, if you start at the centre of the sump and work your way the ends, and then just tighten the bolts up you'll be fine.

Locate the sump with the gasket and screw a few of the bolts in to hold it in place.   Then get all of the bolts in place and make sure they have all 'taken' to the thread.  Use an extension with a 'serrated' bar to screw the bolt right up to the point where you'll need to use a ratchet.   Then starting again in the middle and working outwards, screw the bolts in tight with the ratchet but NOT using real force.    Start the car, make sure the gearbox has enough oil and look for leaks.   Check the bolts every few days if you can to see how tight they are, and 'Nip-up' if you need to, for the next wee while.   Remember, if you use ANY kind of lubricant on a bolt to facilitate the ease of putting it back in place, you also facilitate over-tightening, and perhaps snapping of that bolt.   E.G...........Copper-slip.
