Title: Power steering leak?
Post by bonnietiler on Feb 8th, 2011, 3:13pm
i seem to have disappearing fluid in the reservoir and a matching mark/stain  on the drive below, is there a "typical" leakage area that I should look for first or not?

the hose often splits at the bottom of the reservoir, sometimes you can get away with cutting a bit off the end and pushing it further on

Failing finding the cause there check the gaiter(s). If the seals in the rack are gone fluid will find its way into the gaiters and eventually spill out. You can usually feel it 'slopping' about in there if you sqeeze them. Have you topped it up with a significant quantity?. If so the gaiter(s) is the most likely place to 'find' it. If it is in the gaiters I suggest you deal with it PDQ as a sudden failure is not a pleasant experience and you'll suddenly find why the Scorp has power steering. :)

Another leakage area is from the pressure switch....the fluid actually goes through the switch & drips from the connector.....it's quite bizarre  ::)
