Title: How Easy Post by PJDavis on Feb 13th, 2011, 10:03pm Is it to replace an Automatic Gear Shift? I only ask because I might have a chance at a wood-trim one. Then all I've got to do is find a wood-trim steering wheel, and my Ultima is 'Pimped' :D |

Title: Re: How Easy Post by gozz on Feb 13th, 2011, 10:12pm There is an allen screw in the drivers side of the lever, loosen it a few turns and pull it up,be careful of the two little wires to the O/D switch. You can get to the bottom of them by prising off the 'wood' surround, then prise off the black bit with the positions on it. GOZZ. |

Title: Re: How Easy Post by PJDavis on Feb 13th, 2011, 10:58pm Hokey-Cokey Gozz. Is there a 'nice' way to get that wood trim surrounding the gear stick off without damage? ;) @ Dave. Aye, wood radio. My old Zodiac has a wood-trim radio!!! |

Title: Re: How Easy Post by Simmo on Feb 14th, 2011, 8:57am The trim just prises up. Use a thin blade and gently lever it upwards BUT do so in an even manner all the way round. The wooden trim has, I think four, plastic pegs on the underside which locate in sockets in the trim surround. Try and lift the trim evenly to avoid stressing the pegs. If I were you I'd warm the trim slightly in order to make it a little more 'pliable'. This page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/autotrans/GearSelector.pdf) may help. ;) |
