I thought i'd try and improve my wifes remote for her 12v, so i used bacofoil on the contacts, programmed the remote to the 12v, walked away to test it, and the 2-3 10 feet away responded as well as the 12v! whats the chances?

Hello Bob, you beat me to this topic..... I just noticed that the remote for my Scorpio is also opening and closing the locks on the other halfs Scorpio as well!

(I found this out when I came home and found her boot opened :o )

I thought the chances would be very very low of this happening but perhaps not....... :)

I had just reprogrammed the remote as it was her spare and needed one for my car so perhaps when the system programmes it takes the settings from the remote to set up the car and not vice versa? (Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket right now ;) )

Hi David, i thought the chances of this happening would be pretty remote! :) . in fact for some reason i thought it would be impossible, very intersting though, thanks for your reply, think i will try the lottery this week too, we can compare notes as to our winnings later in the week. good luck.

we once tried this at Harewood a few years ago..... out of about 30 Scorpios that were lined up, I think my remote opened the boot on two other cars. Other peoples remotes opened other boots too, but it didn't seem to work on the door locks for some reason; just the boots

So maybe not as many codes as you'd think then...probably a good job Scorpios aren't too common or we'd have a heck of a time at supermarket car parks etc. finding our boots mysteriously popped!

In my case though the remote works all the locks on both cars as well as just the boot so it functions as the correct remote for either car!!

A few years back, I wrote off my 12V which was then stood on our drive pending breaking it.

I then bought my Cossie Estate, but although I got the red key it had no remote.

I programmed the 12V's remote to the Cossie, and that would then do all functions on both cars ;)

Well just to add to this, in my exitement of taking my 2-3 for mot today, i had to move the wifes 2-9 first, but by mistake used the wrong ignition key from the 2-3 and the 2-9 car started! i thought that would be even less likely that the remote! lol, the 2-3 passed mot, so well happy, it's been off the road for 6 months, got a brand new head fitted, well happy, now i can make a start on the 24v :)
