Title: Exhaust for a 2.3 Ghia
Post by sirbb on Mar 4th, 2011, 5:45pm
Hello,

Can anybody give me some pointers as to where I can purchase either a new or a used exhaust system for my 1997 Scorpio 2.3 16v Ghia.

It requires everything from the 'flexi pipe' (?) back.

I have just been quoted £480 (inc. VAT) by a  local garage (not funny) :o

Thanks.

Have a look on ebay :
Rear box £17:95 + £12.99 p+p
Front flexi pipe £51.79 with free postage
Centre section £162.50 + £14.98 p+p

You may find the parts cheaper from other ebay sellers - I only had a quick look.

All those figures sound about right.

Then there's always BuyPartBy on the web, if they've got 'em for the 2.3

Trouble with 2nd hand is you can't be sure what state it's in

Thank you very much for the information - much appreciated.

Presumably this is something I can fit myself without too much hassle given that it is from the flexible pipe back and not involving the cat?

Not difficult - basic hand tools + ramps & or axle stands. Done a few myself...or find a local friendly mechanic and wave some cash under his nose  ;)

Also make things easier if you can get some heat on the 2 nuts.

I used a hand held gas blowlamp similar to this on mine > http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/9792/torchandgas.jpg (http://img535.imageshack.us/i/torchandgas.jpg/)
