That looks like the cruise control actuator. Shouldn't affect idle though.

Thanks all,

I have to ask could this in any way give bad idle or is it just connected to the cruise control as a total seperate unit. I have read it that if it is put back together incorrectly it will idle fast, but i have not taken this apart or taken it off the car. I just want to know if this could result in a car idling very slow as of previous post in problems won't idle?

It is a separate unit and AFAIK does not impact on the idle speed.
Have you tried doing an ECU reset, by disconnecting the battery for 10mins and see if that improves matters?

Yes I have tried doing a reset by disconnecting the battery but to no avail.
It is going in to have the gas commissioned tommorow so I will let you all know how it gets on
