Title: main belt inside cracks Post by pedropedro on May 3rd, 2011, 7:33pm i changed the belt 2 years ago and recently noticed on inside surface where the ribs are it is cracked at 2mm intervals on each of the ribs ...can see where it goes over tensioner pulley ....maybe the small radius of that pulley and the fact the belt is reversed at that point aggrevates the issue....should i be changing again or is it something they all do ? |

Title: Re: main belt inside cracks Post by Matt on May 3rd, 2011, 8:04pm the belts all crack like that, as you say its being bend on its self, so long as all the cracks go across the V's and not running along them it will be ok for a bit. but for piece of mind have one handy incase it goes |

Title: Re: main belt inside cracks Post by Snoopy on May 4th, 2011, 7:52am As a tip I used to change the belts on a regular basis but I used to keep the old one in the boot as a spare for those moments with Justin, Jimmy Case's brother. Fortunately I never had to use one but always felt a lot safer with the old one in the boot with the spare wheel. |
