Title: Idle problem
Post by Glyn on May 30th, 2011, 12:16pm
My 1995 Cossie has developed surging on tickover. This only occurs as it is warming up and the revs drop to final tickover about 750. The revs oscillate about 650 to 800 but settle when properly hot with only minor fluctuation.
This is annoying when sat at traffic lights as it surges at the resonant frequency of the suspension and the car bounces up and down enless I knock it into neutral. Fortunately I dont get seasick !
The garage have failed to solve it and I have replaced the idle air control valve and cleaned the MAF. The garage suggest a new MAF but I am wary since they originally were positive it was the IAC valve.
If I disconnect the MAF the tickover immediately steadies.
Do I really need a new MAF or is there another likely cause ? :-/

I think you have answered your own question ;D

Was it yourself that had wiring issues recently? possibly wiring

Try swapping it with a known working MAF just to double check?

Might be another 24v member near you? Where are you?
