Title: Help needed - changing ABS Control Box Post by Tenfut on Jun 12th, 2011, 3:44pm Hi everyone Trying to change the ABS controller on my 24v.Got as far as the 2 T20 torx screws that hold the box on. First one came out easy but the other is stuck solid and refuses to budge and has now started to "round off" the points. Obviously not much working room. Any ideas anyone before I put the whole thing back together again and be back to square one. TIA Tony |

Title: Re: Help needed - changing ABS Control Box Post by Tompion on Jun 12th, 2011, 4:41pm Use a good quality well fitting bit, if the one you have is rounded grind the end off to a fresh part but don’t let it get hot/temper. Put the other bolt back to relieve any stress/binding in the alloy of the valve block. Try & soak some oil into it. |

Title: Re: Help needed - changing ABS Control Box Post by Tenfut on Jun 12th, 2011, 5:40pm Thanks Dave However the problem is the screw rounding, not the bit (which is brand new and never been used) I have reluctantly :( put it all back together as I need the car tomorrow. I think he only way will be to remove the whole pump so that I can have more room to (maybe) drill out the offending screw. :( Has anyone ever done this? |

Title: Re: Help needed - changing ABS Control Box Post by Tompion on Jun 12th, 2011, 7:27pm Tony, probably the best bet is to remove the complete unit, you only need to drill the head off, the shank will probably easily unscrew once you lift the controller off (assuming it's not rusted solid). I’d suggest having plenty of fluid & an easybleed kit ready in case you have problems shifting the air. I drilled a hole sideways through the controller into a seized bolt on mine. Yours being the other type you may not be able to get a drill at it on the car & being the TCS type it may not be possible if it’s the inner bolt. There's a steel tube that the bolt goes through so you should feel when the drill breaks the bolt & stop before you go through both walls of the tube – so you shouldn’t do any damage to the circuitry. http://i.imgur.com/51yGiuI.jpg Dave |

Title: Re: Help needed - changing ABS Control Box Post by Tompion on Jun 12th, 2011, 8:08pm Just found a picture of your controller, I see the bolt holes are both at the end so drilling is possible for either assuming there’s room to get at it. Here’s a picture that shows where to drill at whatever angle you can get at it. http://i.imgur.com/y4D82Nz.jpg |

I don't know, but they can bend unbelievable much without damaging. |
