Title: Centre Console Removal
Post by SteveO on Jun 13th, 2011, 9:33am
I'm trying to strip out the interior of my old car. Seats, windows, window motors and door cards were all easy enough but I can't get the centre console off. The shroud over the handbrake seems to be stopping me lifting the back end up and away.

Can anyone advise one how the console is removed?

Thanks,

Steve

If i recall you have to remove the cassette holder to get at some of the screws, its a while since I took mine out though, but found it easy.

The plastic tray below the handbrake is hooked under the trim at the gearstick end.

If you can pull the plastic tray backwards far enough it should unhook at the front end and lift out letting you then pull the whole thing forward, away from and over the handbrake

The wiring underneath the console is cable tied in place, you will need to cut some of these to remove it completely.

Thanks gents. I'll give it a go this evening. The car has to go asap as I need the space for another project. I'll be sorry to see her go but needs must and I've salvaged all of the spares I can think of to keep my other Scorpio on the road for as long as possible.

All done, most of the interior trim and electrics have been removed for storage/spares now, along with calipers, lower suspension arms etc.
