Temperature of the engine and fuel consumption.
If to change the thermostat with temperature 87 (FORD) to the thermostat (VERNET 4898.92J) with opening of 92 degrees it is possible to reduce consumption idling by 9 %, in movement on 6-7 %.
Duration of injection of fuel decreases idling with 440 to 420 мs.

nah, its too small to be watertight, even with gasket..

Yes, most fuel injection engines will run leaner with a hotter stat, but TBH it's not an option I'd consider, and just because it runs leaner doesn't mean it will ACTUALLY use less fuel during normal driiving.

It could use more.

In the past, with modern American V8's I've found they run better (a tad richer), with a cooler thermostat (around 70 to 75 degree).

This is because the little extra fuel makes them more efficient, hence you are using less fuel.

I'm going to be using a different thermostat set up on my BOB Cosworth 24V Powered 4WD Puma Rally Car, purely to make it run cooler. Fuel consumption is not an issue on a Stage Rally Car LOL...............

Mind I've always said that a BOB Cosworth runs too hot, because it's thermostat is regulating the water temperature EXITING the bottom of the rad, it will run cooler just by shifting the stat to the top hose.
For me getting the BOB at 72 degrees will be good :)

hehe, I dont consider under 80c, or under 87c thermostat because sometimes local climate hits -15c - -30c :D you will be freezing then because interior warming takes ages..

Yeah that will be a consideration LOL,

But most Cossies run at 90 + at the top hose exit, due to the thermostat being in the bottom hose :(

This is why the under bonnet temps are so high on the darned things, and a contributing factor to the (Sh!te) wiring looms falling apart ;)
