Title: Water leak from headlining
Post by Andycan on Jul 16th, 2011, 10:43am
Hi went out to the car this morning and there is a puddle of water on the back seat. It appears to be comming from the back centre roof light switches.

Has anyone had this problem before and if so did they find out where it was comming from?

I assume it is either from the back window seals and running forwards into the light switch or from the sunroof seals and running all the way to the back.

Either way the headlining seems to be still rigid and dry.

Check the sunroof drain tubes are clear - piece of curtain wire might do the trick.

I very occasionally get the drip from the front light switch, but only when the car has been sitting for a while, and not well polished.   (It rains a lot up here)   I use a 1.6mm ccms welding rod bent back on itself at the end, always does the trick.   Although, I wouldn't know where to look for any rear sunroof drain-holes, is there any?

Yes, one each side corner right at the back, the drain tubes exit at the rear of each wheel arch and go to the air pressure flaps behind both sides of the rear bumper.

I'll need to have a look at that when it stops raining!   ;)

Might just be condensation off the roof panel? ~ I've mentioned it before how in the colder / wetter months I can get amazing amounts of condensation inside sometimes

I have only had the car 3 or 4 months but never had this happen before and never had any problem with condensation and we have had some very bad weather here over the past few months.
