Post by Scorpio_Mike on Aug 15th, 2011, 2:22pm Probably what has happened is when you put water in it stirred up the muck in the bottom of the tank which has now blocked the filter. Remove the pump, pull out the runbber bung which incorporates the filter and either clean & refit or fit a new one - under £1 from Ford. The filter can also break up - probably reaction of the rubber & washer fluid. Careful you have not blocked up the washer jets... |

I jacked the car up, pulled off the two narrow hose, no water came out, then it was a case of lever the pump out of the reservoir time...I was poised like a coiled spring for the fountain of water to cascade onto my sleeve...out popped the pump...nothing...not a drip. I inserted a screwdriver and with the touch of a trainee gynocologist, i twiddled and could clearly feel some sort of blockage, I think it was the other end of the rubber gasket that had malformed, with a twist and a push and little faffing about, yes...YES! ...I then got the wet sleeve..ho hum.. All is well now, I have a fully functioning screen wash. Many thanks to all Regards Bonnietiler |

The screwdriver has pierced the mesh part of the grommet which covers the inlet to the pump. It will work but effectively there is now no filter. The idea is to remove that grommet and simply wash the sludge off the 'screen'. ;) |
