There has been a post about some one on ebay who repairs them with micro switches and I think its only about £25.

This is the chap I used. Got one done to see it it would work and it did. Then got a second one done. This was about a year ago and both are still going fine.

He basically fits micro switches to the PCB thus solving the problem of the rubber buttons not being conductive any more. The rubber buttons are still there over the top of the micro switches so it all looks original.

I think his prices have gone down now as well.

Update to all this ~

My buttons subsequently failed, contact material gone high resistance (measured with a DMM).

Got some conductive silver paint from RS, put it on, great I thought this'll sort it. Left it 24 hours to make sure it was dry / cured whatever.

No. Within a couple of days or less stopped working again. The paint was falling off and bridging the PCB 'fingers', in fact very easy to rub it all off with a duster. So that don't work.

Just so happened I was at a friends house when having this second lot of post silver paint application non-operational remote issues and he said, "Nah, silver paint is not the way to do it, get a soft pencil and rub it (the pointed graphite end obviously) all over the contact pad."

D'ya know what he's right it's brilliant. Dead easy fix and for the next time, just repeat the treatment. http://livinginthepast-audioweb.co.uk/images/misc/th_thumbsup.gif

I just opened both mine up and carefully put baco-foil around each bit.   That was two years ago, still working perfect.   :D

That was 'plan B' if the pencil didn't work, but it did ;D

Just another option
