Title: Autobox Gasket
Post by PJDavis on Sep 20th, 2011, 11:17am
I'm about to do the oil and filter change on the Autobox for old 'Movvy's' 100k birthday!   I've done the job before and wondered if the cork gasket would be best placed with a thin smear of grease or engine oil, which?
Also, I'm sure none of my bolts holding the sump on have any washers on them, might it be prudent to put a flat and spring washer on each, or maybe a 'shakeproof' washer?
Replies gratefully received.

Peter

I usually put a smear of grease on cork, but this is more to stop it sticking in situations where it’ll be used again.
I don’t see any reason to change the fixings as don’t forget there are steel spacers in the gasket that the sump pulls up to.

Don't put anything on a cork gasket other than a few dabs of grease to hold it in place while you fit the sump  ;)

Thin flat washers will be okay but no more  ;)
