Title: Cosmetic changes to Ford Scorpio.
Post by DylanRR on Oct 23rd, 2011, 11:51pm
Hey,

I've purchased a dark green Ford Scorpio 1998 (prefacelift) last Friday, it however has a couple of cosmetic flaws. Rusted rear fenders, Ford badge which has lost it's colour and the left side of my rear bumper has completely faded and some scratches. The rest of the car is in pretty good schape.

Does anyone have any trips to:
Paint my Ford logo (on the grill)
Fix the rust
Get scratches out of my door (not very deep ones.)

Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and does anybody know what the name of this colour is?

Welcome to the site Dylan. I assume you are in Holland by the number plate?. I think the colour is Loden Green but to be sure lift the bonnet and check the VIN plate. The details of the car, including its colour are contained on it and the codes are Here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/vin.gif). The Ford badge is simply stuck on and your best bet is to obtain a replacement one from a 'breaker' or a member on here. If you apply heat with a hair dryer or similar the old one should lever off. The rust question has me puzzled but I assume you mean the rear wheel arches as they are a known problem. If so there are replacement parts available BUT it is a job for a body repair specialist. The scratches may come out with 'T cut' or similar or a good polish but it depends on the extent of damage.  :)

Hi Dylan,

You seem to have a leg hanging out the back of your car  :P

Color wise id say its toullamard, its to dark for loden and doesnt have the golden pop that loden has

The ford badges are easy to come by, if you measure it youll find one on ebay if you just search for ford badge

You say the paint has faded, are you sure its fade or has the laqure lifted?

Rusty arches are common, depending on how bad will say whether it can be repaired or you need new arches welded in

Thanks for all the replies, I meant rear-arches in stead of fenders, but since I'm dutch my English could be better. :P I'm gonna have a damagespecialist take a look at the fenders. I've ordered a new badge from my local Ford dealership, to explain the leg, my driveshaft came off, but we could tow it because it would make nasty noises, so we decided to jack it up and fix it on the parking of the McDonalds.

Oh, and my bonnet isn't faded, but it was pretty early in the morning, so it was still moist.

.

If it helps replacement wheel arches are available for the earlier model Granada Scorpio and will fit with a little modification by a repair specialist.  :)  What is the colour? ;)
