Title: 24V Cosworth Estate Front Pads
Post by Dave2302 on Dec 3rd, 2011, 8:37am
Does anyone know the correct mintex Part Number please, I'm sick and tired of being supplied wrong front Pads, and like a pr@t I threw the old ones in the skip when I stripped and rebuilt the front calipers  :(

Cheers Dave

Pretty certain that's MDB1620
But if correct it should also be the part for 2.5 Cougar

Thanks,

But they aren't 1620's, I have a set of them which are incorrect  :(
1620s are normal 2.0 / 2.3 / 2.9 / Mondeo Cougar 2.5 Pads, and definitely don't fit my calipers  ;)

Calipers came off a 1996 2.9 Cosworth 24V Estate  ;)

Any other takers ??

Cheers Dave

Definately not 1620's - that's for the smaller discs as fitted to the 2.3 etc...
If you have a 24v reg number go to http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/ and it should tell you.

The ones I keep getting sent are MDB1620 and are also listed for Mondeo, but THEY DEFINITELY DONT FIT !!!!
They fit normal 2.9's as well as others but not Cossie Estate Brakes, (and I think the brakes are the same as Cossie Saloon).

According to Mike's link above, (Cheers Mike), they should be as follows:-

Fronts (278mm Discs):-

MDB 1895 W/O Wear Ind / MDB 2193 With Wear Ind

Rears (273mm Discs):-

MDB 1287 W/O Wear Ind / MDB 2193 With Wear Ind

So hopefully that'll be MDB 1895's for my fronts and MDB 1287's for my rears then as they're going in the Puma and it has no wear indication  ;)

I'm frantically finishing off a few jobs today on the 24V 4X4 Puma Rally Car, and ATM trying to get the brakes bled, as it's going for paint Monday  ;)
ATM I've got little wooden blocks stuffed in the front calipers to stop the pistons popping out  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Guys,

Dave

I've just been on the Mintex site, it is a bit clunky isn't it?
As far as I was aware the 888 and 887 front calipers as fitted to the 24v Cosworth scorp were also fitted to:
Sorry but they were on the one I had ..to the 24v Cougar,
the 93-96 4wd Mondeo,
93-96 24v Mondeo,
92-95 Escort cosworth 4x4 and some mid versions of the Sierra Cosworth..Also TVR models I think?
So although the friction grades might be different model to model all of those ought to fit the 888/887 caliper, if they come fitted with sensor wires just chop em.
I use Ferodo DS2500...awesome..

I have a full Alcon front set-up on my Racing Puma so they definately won't fit...mind you I have Porsche Pads in those!
