when replacing a head on a 2.3 dohc engine how do you get the chain tensioner to release as i cant get the chain back on the end of the cams thanks

you cant use a released one you have to buy a new one never seen just the tensioner uther than from ford about £50

thanks for these reply lads got qouted 90 quid for the tensioner so il bin that 1  :o

There only a mechanical device working off hydraulics, you can reset them but they need stripping down to do it, they are fiddly though

cheers matt had it apart today and managed to work it out put 2.0 cams in at the same time took the rev balence cams out too sounds loads better will let you all know the differnts sunday

well lads 8 laps and  it blew a rod thru the block mabey taking the balence cams out wasnt a good idea but we live to learn ;D
