Is it advisable/recommended to top up the oil without draining the box? Cheers. Fred.

Fred, not being an 'auto' man I can only think that the major issue is the actual condition of the oil. If you check it is the correct colour? does it smell 'burnt' ? are you having any problems with the box?. When was it last changed?. :)

Don't think topping up is an expected maintenance thing, dip stick handle is not coloured yellow like the other user-allowed things to look at and check (?)

If level's consistently dropping must be a leak somewhere?

BTW the level must only be checked to see if it's correct while engine running. Probably why it's not a user check, that's maybe getting a bit too involved ;D
