Title: EGR removal ? Post by Nunnspoet on May 5th, 2012, 9:00am Hi folks. On simplelists "slade" has advised that when the EGR is removed from the 24 valve Scorpio that a vented Oil filler Cap be fitted otherwise there will be Piston blow back causing all sorts of Oily problems. My 24 valve Estate has not suffered over at least 3 years, but if there is any adverse affect it is best to air them and get it sorted out. Mike |

Title: Re: EGR removal ? Post by Matt on May 6th, 2012, 10:06pm The egr takes exhaust gas out of the exhaust manifold and puts it back into the inlet to burn off any left over fuel, making the gasses cleaner. To get blow back the PCV vavle would have to be blocked off |

Post by Matt on May 14th, 2012, 9:04pm The cats do most of the work but the egr does it to EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation, it just a valve that allows exhaust gases to be sucked back into the inlet manifold to 'reburn' the exhaust gasses to burn off any left over fuel vapor. Title: Re: EGR removal ? Post by martin_rowe on May 15th, 2012, 9:22am EGR reduces the amount of Oxygen in the cylinder at certain times, which helps reduce the amount of Nitrates in the emissions, usually at cruise condition with small throttle openings. |
