Do any of you good folk know if there is a separate fuse for the rear wiper on the estate ?
I've had a look on the fusebox diagrams but can't find one listed, I have found the location of the relay on the diagram but not sure on how to test that or what to swap it with to test.

Edit:
One other point, how the heck does the rear wiper arm come off, I can't for the life of me find a nut that needs to be undone to loosen it.

Rodders. Flick up the cover at the shaft end of the arm and the nut is there. BE CAREFUL with the small plastic cap which carries the tubing up through the arm as it has a very small projection on which the tubing locates and it needs CARE. This little cap sits on top of the shaft and carries the water into the tubing which runs inside the arm and up to the nozzle in the square bit at the end of the arm.
According to my list fuse 7 in the central fuse box covers the wiper motors and washer pumps. (Note the plural). ;)

Thanks for the info chaps, I'll be having another look at it today, I have tried to flick up the 'bolt' cover but it doesn't seem to want to budge.

Regarding the relay for it,(R1 in the central fuse box) how do I test it or can it be swapped with another one in the fuse box(s) to find out if it's working ?

hi there

is the arm not moving?

i found that with some wd40 and 'helping' it by moving back and forth by hand, it would work for a few months, then you need to do it again.

mind and have it switched on while moving it. you should 'feel' it wanting to move when the relay clicks.

Rodders.
You can substitute the relay with another similar numbered one for testing.They are only an electromagnetic switch to carry a heavier load than the switch can take.There are two terminals to power the magnet when the wiper switch is operated,the other two pass the load to the wiper.If it clicks when you operate the wiper you know the magnet is closing the points and is most likely OK.If you want to test it off the car,connect the two terminals which operate the magnet,to the battery pos/neg,when it clicks you need to check that the power circuit is connected,if you've got a meter do it with that,if not use a test lamp to earth after putting power on to the remaining terminal which you can temporarily bridge off the terminal to which you previously connected to pos on the battery.

Eventually managed to lift the bolt cover up at base of wiper arm, a previous owner had super glued it down, no idea why ??? :o
Just got to check the relay now when I get some spare time, this retirement malarkey is taking up too much of it. ;)
