Hi there.

If you let us (the Forum) know which Scorpio you have and tell us the problem/s maybe we can help: It could be an easy fix like cleaning the MAF. It all depends on the spec.

Give us a try mate.

Mike     :)

Hi,

I have owned a 24 valve Scorpio Ultima for nearly 15 years and probably 6 or more years ago the automatic gearbox  was refusing to change gear correctly.

The wires within the Mass Aiirflow Sensor (MAF) were apparently clean, however I sprayed the wires within the MAF with caburettor cleaner not expecting any change.

The problem was cured and the gearbox then worked better than it had previously. There are instructions on this site for the simple procedure Here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cleanmaf.htm) ;)

If cleaning the MAF does not work then a rough idea of your location would help with finding a gearbox specialist.

Unfortunately I also have gearbox /  transmission problems  which I am unable to resolve and am now contemplating scrapping my much loved car.

Good luck, Malcolm73

I had to get a new MAF, but exact same result. Before that I too was wondering if I need another g/box.

Simple test ~ unplug the MAF to force open loop fuelling. If g/box then works properly, that's what it is.

Have you checked out the Transmission section in Fault Finder (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/faultfinds.htm) and also the suggestions above? :)

Sorry to be obstinate, did you go through the 'transmission concerns' section in fault finder, Simmo's post.

Another member might have a spare box (?)

I had symptoms like these. In my case it was a crumbly gearbox loom. Replaced the loom and the problems vanished.

This is why you MUST eliminate EVERY other possibility.

I nearly was going to replace a box that had nothing wrong with it, and if I had, problem still there
