Title: help needed from 24V owner
Post by Dave2302 on Sep 14th, 2012, 11:32am
Hi,

Can anyone help with a small experiment on a standard 24V ??
This will not harm your car in any way and only involves a couple of runs up a quiet straight road in say 2nd or 3rd gear  ;)

This will need someone with a basic electrical knowledge, who likes tinkering, as we need to make and temporarily wire up a small LED onto say a length of speaker 2 core wire, so you can see the LED on the dash while driving  ;D

Basically I need someone to check the VIS Valve switching points at various RPMs up to the rev limiter or just below (say 5800), at a part throttle, i.e. revving it gradually using a gentle rise up to the 5800 rpm, and note at what rpm the vis switches on and off, then do the same but with a wide open throttle.

This will require an LED temporarily wired into the ECU behind the glove box and taped on top of the dash above your rev counter to monitor the VIS Valve solenoid circuit so we know at what RPM's the switching points occur !!

If anyone can help with this please let me know initially on here and then I'll pm you my phone details.

Cheers in advance

Dave

Hi Matt,

I'm not really bothered about the Mondeo ECU as I'm not using the IMRC output, I've got a MSD Window switch controlling my vac solenoid.

What I need to know is the switching points of the standard BOB ECU on full throttle from standing start and also on a light throttle to see :-

a) What RPMs it switches the Solenoid Earth on and off at on a full throttle / load, (pin 44 on the BOB ECU IIRC)

b) If there is any difference to the switching points on a light throttle

I can wait a week buddy, no problems  ;)

Also do you have a spare Vacuum resevoir thingy from a 24V Scorp that you could sell me ?

Thanks for the reply

Cheers Dave
