Title: Re: Replacement case for Remote control Post by Baz on Sep 18th, 2012, 12:34am I think these are the smaller Transit van type ones. the Scorpio ones are longer by about half a centimetre. I think from past research trying to find an alternative remote for the Scorpio (with no success!!) That the Mustang ones from the states are the same physical size http://www.ebay.com/itm/3165189-GQ43VT4T-Factory-3-BUTTON-OEM-KEY-FOB-Keyless-Entry-Remote-Alarm-/251092247193?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AMustang&hash=item3a7643a299&vxp=mtr |

Title: Re: Replacement case for Remote control Post by PJDavis on Sep 18th, 2012, 9:40pm Job-Done! I've just purchased one for £8.47. Including delivery to North Scotland. We shall see if it works? Will I need to take the inners out of one of mine to allow it to work the Scorp? Peter |

Title: Re: Replacement case for Remote control Post by Mike H on Sep 19th, 2012, 1:27pm I think so yes, swap the old board into the new fob. |
||
Title: Re: Replacement case for Remote control Post by Baz on Sep 23rd, 2012, 2:53pm The Scorpio does not respond to any other remote on the market so yes; you will need to remove the board and fit to the new case. A few years ago, I bought quite a few remotes from the states to try them out (especially when New Scorpio ones were topping £100.00 each) None worked! |

Title: Re: Replacement case for Remote control Post by PJDavis on Sep 26th, 2012, 6:42pm Received today, Picture below. http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/xx357/PJJDavis123/DSCF3345.jpg As you can see it's totally different, the batteries are mounted differently and it has small plastic buttons instead of the rubber buttons of the original that you push to activate. However all is not lost. One can change the switches of the 'Mustang' fob over to the 'Scorpio' fob and then put the rubber insert from the Mustang around the Scorpio chip to get a more positive 'feel' to the activation. The Mustang fob although the same size, is much thinner. It's second-hand and was absolutely 'Manky' so I wonder how long it will last anyway. But the 'Gal' prefers that her fob now says, 'Panic' (with a red button) rather than the boot motif. (or should that be 'Trunk'?) Had it been new, it would be worth it to change for new inners. Mind you, the buttons have a much more positive feel. Peter |

Title: Re: Replacement case for Remote control Post by Mike H on Sep 29th, 2012, 11:49am Very interesting, thanks! Hadn't noticed the 'used' TBH. When you say "thinner", you mean the plastic? |

Title: Re: Replacement case for Remote control Post by PJDavis on Sep 30th, 2012, 1:21pm When I mention Thinner, I mean the unit overall is much thinner, notice the batteries are side-by-side. |
