ALT test, with engine running alt should be putting out 12.5 -13.0 volts @ tickover raise the revs to 2k & check readings. upto max 14.70 volts. Any more alt overcharging.

. . .

Around 13.60 volts ideal. :) :) :)

Lately mine has been 11.8 - 13.00, depending what it feels like at that moment.

Did a trip this morning, started with 12.5 - 6, 25m out, 13.1 - dropping to 12.9 while I watched it, 25m back home, parked, before turning engine off, back to 12.00!

All tests by dashboard diag, engine idling.

This has been developing for some time I think, but have only recently been monitoring it on the dash diag., so don't know what it was doing before. Have also seen it jump from a low V to high! Just at the precise minute while I just happened to be watching it...

If battery is low charge state, won't go past 11.5 - 8, idling. Need to put a charger on every 2 weeks.

Battery is new. (well 6 weeks ago or so.)

Time for a new alternator?

I usually find the dash reads a bit lower than my meter by about .5V
I prefer to measure at the battery.

Ah just looked up dash tests, 'Voltage to instument panel, not necessarily means battery Voltage'.

Have to rig up a different way of reading it.

Mine reads 13.8 to 14.1 on dash readout, with engine running and putting lights on etc.  Just bought a new battery as it failed >:(.

Need to check fuses, might have some series resistance
