Good morning folks :)

Can somebody please tell me whether the above Finis No. relates to a HO2S sensor for a P reg 24 valve Scorpio Estate? I tried to find out through my friendly Ford people only to be told that it is an old Finis No. and whilst they could tell me that it is Ford Sensor they could not tell me which Ford, ???. I despair!

Still I am confident that somebody on here will know 8). So I await a response in eager anticipation. ::)

If it screws in the hole and has the requisite number of wires,will it not do the job ? I used to buy general purpose sensors from factors identified by the thread and wires only,plugs can be changed over.

:). Yup. I have fitted the above Sensor, completed a "Drive Cycle." No fault codes :), 8).

Hi Tenfut, :).

It was Bank 2 which is the Nearside Bank. I accessed it from above having removed: The heatshield, the MAF and air filter cover as one followed by the Air Filter box providing much easier access to the Sensor and to the electric conector plug which sits directly under the box. I have a "Sensor removal socket", about 3inches long which fits over the Sensor body and has a slot in it to accomodate the cable. It has a "nut" on the end to accomodate a spanner. I use an ancient, cut down ring spanner which just gives enough room to operate it between the Sensor and the inner wing.

The Sensors can be real pigs to undo and I have had to get my Garage to replace them in the past as I am old and weak!

As the Sensor has to be fitted "blind",from above that is, and usually the threads have no lubrication on them I spit on my finger and just wet the thread in the exhaust pipe and similarly wet the thread on the Sensor, makes it easier to locate and will not damage the Cat.

Also remember that the exhaust pipe is on a slight angle, at a pure guess about 15degrees from the top towards the rear of the car. I spent ages trying to fit the Sensor at 90degrees >:( >:( >:(.

Just one more tip; don't over tighten the Sensor, its a bit like a Spark Plug in that it just needs to be gas tight and its easy enough to just give it a tweak if it ain't quite sealed.

Finally I strongly recomend you disconect the Bty. N lead before removing the MAF. Also during the time it takes to fit your new Sensor all Fault Codes will have been cleared. So a fresh start and a perfect Scorpio, ;D.

Don't forget your RADIO Code.

Sadly yes Tony :(. I failed on two ocasions as the Sensor was too tight for me. So I gave it to my friendly Garage. They had a real struggle with it but succeded in the end.

Me no like the thought of fitting Sensors. :'(
