Title: Engine oil smell through air blower
Post by exucasvu on Mar 18th, 2013, 3:41pm
Just got the Ultima back after some major work, including replacing the the cat converter and exhaust manifold gasket. There is a distinct what I can only describe as a hot engine oil smell coming through the heater vents into the car particularly noticeable when the blower is working. It is not unbearably smelly but I am sure it should not be there! Has anyone any advice as to where to start looking for the source? :(

Are the 2 X 90 degree hoses still in place that the aircon drain valves fit into:

Some one has had oily hands all over the exhaust system and is still burning off.

Had similar problem with my 12v (and previously with a Sierra 2.9 4x4.) In both cases the rocker cover gaskets were leaking oil on to the block and then to the exhaust-cured with new gaskets.
