Title: Remote fob range and colour of face lift headlight
Post by Icarus on Apr 8th, 2013, 6:42pm
Just a quick couple of questions,

What sort of range do you fellow owners get from your remote key fobs?  I have to hold mine on the glass to get a response!  It fitted new batteries and still the same.  Do they degrade signal wise over time?

And does anybody know what colour the darker section of the last face lifted Scorpio headlights are?  Matt black, gun metal grey or something else?  Not seen any in the flesh myself, but will be painting mine as soon as I can :)

Thanks

Peter

I think some owners have removed the silver on the bit that is black on the facelift lights, I think its black underneath.

the lights are just black plastic and as said you can rub the chrome off a prefacelift unit and it will turn black (thing of facelift lights as not chromed)

Ahh, thought I had to paint it, but if the chrome can be removed...... :)

it comes off fairly easy, use something like t cut or similar, just dont use paint stripper or chemicals, the plastic melts  ::)

best if you can take the glass off, which if you feel brave enough to do id recoment using windscreen sealant to rebond them, you csn buy it on ebay for £10 which youll get a little kit of glass prep and primers

Why would you?   I much prefer the pre-facelift lights front and rear.   Opinions are important of course.   I need to sleep!
:) :)

I normally have to be within 10ft of car. I saw Jeremy C demonstrate on TG that putting the fob to your forehead and pressing the button you could extend the range. Seemed to work for me but I don't make a habit of it
:P  ;D :P

The fob's sender is turned on by the button contacts, so if they are high resistance, transmitting power is not good. I normally have to be within about 10 feet as well.
