Title: RDS 7000 Post by Andycan on Sep 1st, 2013, 12:32pm Is there a knack to getting these out? I have the 2 ford extractor wires and they click into place but the unit just will not budge even with the help of a screwdriver. |

Title: Re: RDS 7000 Post by Simmo on Sep 1st, 2013, 1:24pm Andy, once they click into place they need to be pressed outwards, towards the passenger door and steering wheel, so that the pressure releases the holding clips. Wiggle with them in that 'stressed' position. It is a bit of a fiddle and knack but that should work. ;) |

you can also get your fingers on the metal clips and push them in |

Title: Re: RDS 7000 Post by Andycan on Sep 26th, 2013, 3:07pm Thanks Matt the screen on it has gone and I have now replaced it with a 5000rds but it jamms up half way in and won't budge yet there is nothing in the way from what I can see any ideas? Wouls i be correct in saying you need to take the air con compressor off to change the waterpump on the cosworth? That is my next job along with a new engine loom at the same time lol. |

Title: Re: RDS 7000 Post by Matt on Sep 26th, 2013, 4:44pm If its jamming then its either a stray wire or the Y shaped guide on the back is getting stuck on the metal rail. nah you dont need to take the air con pump off, just the belt.i think you need to take off the waterpump pulley however to remmove all the little bolts that hold it on |

Title: Re: RDS 7000 Post by Andycan on Sep 26th, 2013, 5:52pm Thanks Matt I have another question both radio's have weak signals and the radio connection is in ok so does it need a new aerial or is there another connection elsewhere that may have come loose? |

Title: Re: RDS 7000 Post by Tompion on Sep 26th, 2013, 6:00pm Unscrewing the aerial & cleaning the earth can help – accessed through the interior light aperture. |

Title: Re: RDS 7000 Post by Matt on Sep 26th, 2013, 6:18pm as above really mate, only other bit to try is cleaning the little connection on the radio, ive seen these go a bit manky, you could also pop a multi meter on either end of the cable to see if it got a high resistance, its just a mini coax cable like what you would have on you tv |
