Title: Door hinge bolts
Post by lesterlad aka Rodders on Sep 19th, 2013, 5:16pm
Spoke to one our valued members today (Gozz) about another car door on e-bay and he said he hasn't seen any hinge pin bolts the same as what's on mine, he only knows of 8mm (I think) hex head bolts whereas mine has male star bolts that require a female star socket to remove them.

What is the norm on the scorpio, star head or hex head ?

I definitely know they were hexagon on the old Granada, maybe they were changed to hex when Coleman Milne etc modified the doors on the limo's.

Yes Rodders, they are indeed star bolts, the confusion arose because I always use a 1/4" x 1/4" drive hexagon socket which is a perfect fit, indeed I have just removed your new door from Welland Road with it.The door is now residing in my yard, keep us posted re collection.
For some reason I thought you needed the nearside door, but the man said definitely offside, that,s what we have.

Thank you so much Gozz,
Yes it's the offside passenger (driver side) door I need.
I'll be in contact with my boy to visit your abode and reimburse you, and pick said door up OR I may even risk driving over myself one day next week and partake in a cup of your good lady's rosy lea and a biscuit or two.
