Title: Front Discs
Post by lesterlad aka Rodders on Oct 3rd, 2013, 9:07am
Just changed the front discs on the Scorp and was astonished to see the amount of uneven wear on the inner sides.
Outer sides were normal

Anyone know what could have caused this ?

Was piston side pad stuck in the carrier?

That is common on a lot of cars, I have changed the discs on the rear of my eos, which looked the same as yours. They will even go through mot like that. :o

The Scorp has 'Floating-Callipers' as we all know.   The reason this happens on the piston side is due to heat dissipation.   The heat is greater on the inside, this warps the pad slightly, and then the centre of the pad in extreme cases, and after a lot of use is the only part really baring on the disc.   It also doesn't help that most of our cars are Automatic, how many of us come up to a junction or traffic-lights and just hold our foot on the brake until it's time to move?   All the heat that's in the disc and calliper is trapped between one point, and this warps the disc and pads.   I always just pull the handbrake on three or four clicks when sitting in traffic, it helps to use the handbrake regularly and stops the heat dissipating through the discs and pads.    Just a thought!
