Post by ro284 on Nov 4th, 2013, 11:37am
The engine runs ok, After rewire and Gaskets, etc. but noticed the Wobbly crankshaft pulley on tickover! it's not loose, i think it has a vibration damper in it, Is this anything to worry about? any thoughts welcome please, Bob

They will wobble a bit as its got a layer of rubber in it but excessive amounds will mean the rubber has perished

Difficult to measure Glyn, i would guess 8 mill deflection, I guess it should'nt be too difficult to get another one, but i think there is a tool that is needed to clamp the toothed ring on flywheel, via the starter motor hole!to replace it, apparently it is a vibration damper, but mine at 18 years old is causing vibration!

I undone mine by wedging a breaker bar between the bolt and the road and "blipping" the starter.  Doing it back up tight enough is a different thing!
