What is the correct bleed procedure for them? Have got a gunson pressure bleeder and an air compressor powered vacuum bleeder but the procedures on here only mention the old fashioned pedal push method.

Also it mentions start with front left and work front first (on the procedure page http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/brake/BrakeBleed.pdf and then rear but what is front left? The picture on the procedure states start front left but has a picture of what I would call front right (i.e. left or right is with someone sat in the drivers seat) so left is nearside and right is offside.

I used a gunson pressure bleeder started front left from drivers seat (I didn’t notice the picture was the other side). No need to touch the brake pedal. Probably not so important to keep the jar higher than the nipple but you might as well. Open each nipple in turn until no air comes out. Make sure you keep the reservoir topped up. The ABS doesn’t appear to need any special technique to purge air from it.

"Have got a gunson pressure bleeder and an air compressor powered vacuum bleeder......." Sorry but I can't help with that part. But in GB. the front left side is the front wheel opposite the Steering Wheel (nearest the kerb).

I follow the above and aply the same criteria to the rear. 8)

The important thing seems to be to keep the jar of fluid ABOVE the caliper. This point has cropped up many times when there have been problems with removing all the air. ;)

I have used Gunsons for many years. I prefer it to the more modern electric bleeders, and prefer it to the vacuum type motorcycle bleeders one of which I also have. Just make sure you have a good seal between the Gunsons and the master-cylinder reservoir. Also initial test before doing the job (with brake fluid in) at 20psi, then I've found that 15-18psi is about right.

You must start from the nearest brake calliper distance from the master - cylinder, and finish with the one furthest from the master - cylinder. So normally from front drivers to rear passenger. But if the front to back pipe is on the passenger-side of the car, then you'll finish with the rear-drivers. As said earlier, best that the container is above the nipple.

Took some effort but now all sorted, brake pedal no longer spongey!
