Title: rocker cover gasket
Post by Bobbit on May 22nd, 2014, 7:25pm
Hi Guys
Could you tell me is it a straight forward job to fit new gaskets to my 2.3 16v,
Are there any pitfalls to watch out for.
I have a bad oil leak , its been a long time since I worked on an engine.
Hope its easy.
Cheers guys
Bob

Hi there

Straight forward enough. You'll get the idea from the cylinder head PDF...http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/DOHC2-3manual.htm

Be careful not to drop the tubular spacers when removing the gasket, and also replace the gaskets around the spark plug holes at the same time to prevent oil leaking into the plug chambers.

....And make sure you torque the bolts down properly & in the right order. The bolts require very little torque. Too much torque will warp the gasket & strip the delicate aluminium threads in the cylinder head  :)
