After changing the hubs on my Scorpio (yup, noisy bearings) I needed to replace the ABS sensors. I could only find sensors for £100+ each initially. After lots of hunting around I found some at £46 ish. Anyway, being a tight git, I have discovered VW Sharan/Ford Galaxy sensors can be used if you grind a couple of mil of the hub (they're a bit short). One cost £15, the other £25 :)

Do you mean grinding down the wheel hub or the mounting on the sensor itself? If the hub proper you will have to remember in future not to fit genuine ones or they could then go so far in as to wreck the sensor ring wouldn't they ?

Yes, the hub itself Glyn. I will make a note not to fit originals without some kind of spacer. Good advice, thanks!!
