Title: Ribbon cable for HVAC control unit

The ribbon cable that connects to my HVAC control panel has separated from the actual contact piece that you lock on to the contol panel with the folding tabs. Any easy fix?

I don't have one to hand to check the exact structure but it's the same type of plug & cable fitted to a computer floppy drive. Unless the lugs are broken you should be able to seperate the two halves & squeeze the 2 parts together on the cable, possibly moving it further down the ribbon if it's pulled off the end insulation.

Well I have sort of taken care of this problem as well. Ended fitting a new used HVAC control panel and the magic box behind it as well.
The Climate control now works as it should apart from that there is no power to the bulbs that are supposed to illuminate the CC control panel. Every other light works on the dashboard, doors, shift lever and so on, but nothing from the CC panel... Oh well, I won the battle but not the war.
