Title: Sunroof seal
Post by amigafan2003 on Aug 12th, 2015, 2:25pm
Does anyone know if you can replace the sunroof seal?  Mine seems to be breaking down and going rusty on the inside which means the sunroof can't tilt upwards.

I'm happy enough taking the assembly out.

Ford used to supply the seal as a spare part but the big problem is the steel underframe which is bonded to the sunroof glass - it rusts and when you have removed the old seal there is nothing much left to fit the new seal to    >:(

Similar problem with Sierra's & other fords from that era.
New seals do turn up on ebay now and then but sell for big money...
Best option is to find a good used sunroof panel.
Not sure but maybe Mondeo sunroof panel might fit ?
I think Mk3 Granada sunroof would fit but try finding one these days.

Wasn't the Sierra fitted with the same sunroof ?

I have checked a lot of mondeos and they have all been a different size. The mk3 Granada is the same, but suffers the same rust problem. I think I read on here that a Sierra is the same as the scorp. It is not the seal that is the problem, its the steel frame.

Hmm - I might just silicone it up then.
