Post by tiggerlit on Aug 23rd, 2015, 1:58pm hi hubby is doing the head gasket and it says set no1 piston at 25mm off the top dead centre. and the crankshaft at the same, so the cams will not be in the same position as they were when they came off. also would the piston be set on the upstroke or the down stroke. any ideas please thanks |

Title: Re: set no1 piston at 25mm????? Post by Tompion on Aug 24th, 2015, 10:47pm It’s difficult to answer unless you give a link to where you got the information. The manual I searched for said (prior to fitting the head) “Set the piston of cylinder no. 1 to 25 mm before TDC”. |

Title: Re: set no1 piston at 25mm????? Post by Matt on Aug 31st, 2015, 2:47pm The 25mm will be before you link the crank and cams via the chain, set the crank so all pistons are down in their bores, fit the head(s) and torque to spec. Set the cams to the correct position then bring the crank round to tdc for no1. Fit chain and rotate by hand with the plugs out to feel for any resistance |
