Title: Question about chain cover and hydraulic tensioner
Post by Martinss on Dec 6th, 2015, 12:22pm
Hey! I have 2.9i 24v BOB engine, have few questions about chains.

1st question - is there possible, to fit BOA chain cover on BOB engine? Therefore i should be able to use BOA/12V water pump without plumbing that one unusable outlet?

2nd question - can i use BOB LH hydraulic chain tensioner on right side? If no, then what are difference between RH and LH tensioners? Also where could I get the RH tensioner, because Burton offers only LH tensioners. :(

3rd question - is there also possbile to buy BOB timing chain somewhere?

As far as I have found, BOA hydraulic tensioner plunger may fit on RH side on BOB engine.
If you open

http://www.burtonpower.com/hydraulic-tensioner-plunger-assembly-cosworth-24v-boa-pp6144-03.html

and read description, it states:

Application:
Ford Granada Mk3/Scorpio Cosworth 2.9 24v BOA 1990-10/1994
Ford Scorpio Cosworth 2.9 24v BOB 10/1994-1998

I have sent e-mail to burtonpower, will see what they answer about BOA tensioner.

I have a kit to recondition the tensioner, I would like to get one ready first before I do the job.  The kit number is different to the one I have, FB16531, the non return valve is the same number  PP3777.
