Title: New Windscreen
Post by PJDavis on Jun 30th, 2016, 4:22pm
Hello all.   A tiny wee chip at the very top of the screen spelt it's death, a great big crack the length of the screen opened up..............oh-dear, "that'll be £75 please".   I have Auto-Windscreens fitting next Friday 8th, it's a heated screen, any advice on what to watch for would be appreciated.   This is now the last item to be done before MOT day on the 20th.   Full brakes all-round fitted today, brand-new petrol tank fitted Monday (what a female dog of a job)   'Movvy' will be hopefully ready for another year, 127k on the clock.   Hoping to take it over to Malta during summer to deliver a few spares for my car & bike across there, and bring a few things back, VINO!

Hello Peter
I have only had one windscreen replacement, a few years ago by Autoglass.
The service was good after they got the right screen (the man turned up and took one look at the car and said "they have given me the wrong screen"
As I was going to Cornwall the following day he re-ordered and arranged for it to be fitted there, which went without a hitch, however at he first rain water poured in at the top and I found that the mirror had been fitted so low that it obscured my view, and this was corrected when they sealed the leak. No problems since.
Only one criticism , that the heating elements appear to be a little more visible in certain lighting conditions than the original, but it is not a problem.
Glyn
