Title: Insurance Companies
Post by Paul-Minter on Aug 6th, 2016, 9:17pm
I have had an accident and the insurance company has written of my vehicle, that I have now posted on Parts Wanted.  The reason why I am writing this is that I have had a result from the Insurance company.

The company took my vehicle away and the first assessor quoted a few hundred Pounds that I did not accept as I made it clear that this car was now in the collectors bracket.  This was passed back to the companies Engineer who said he would take a week to verify what I have just said.  He agreed that the car was special and gave me a link for a similar vehicle that was for sale.  I immediately made the purchase of this 1998 24v Cosworth that was exactly the same and in mint condition with only 84,000 miles on the clock for £1995.

My point is never accept the first offer, even if they say parts are not available or it is too old, the Scorpios are now a collectors item.  I was very pleased at the trouble that Direct Line took in researching the Scorpios and had no problem in paying out although I had to  pay £90 to retrieve the old car.

NB. don't forget to fit a camera to your cars, it saved my bacon, and they are quite cheap now.
Happy motoring. Paul  :)

Thank you Paul. Good advice.
Many years ago my wife wrote off a top spec Mazda. As only a few were made it did not appear in Glasses guide so they offered a price based on a model that was listed. I queried this and, like you,got an improved offer.
