Title: One too many Scorps
Post by Jeff on Sep 4th, 2016, 3:44pm
Gentlemen.
Get a cup of tea:
Hoping someone can help. I am the current owner of the Pepper Red 2.3 that may be relatively well known on here, previously owned and extremely well looked after by Paul Smith. It used to have the reg no. FEK 1T or something similar. The car is an absolute jewel, not a Cosworth, but for most of the time, perfectly adequate. Chaps like us have grown out of racing starts which is the only advantage a Cosworth offers as far as I can see, and I've had a few. The problem is as follows.
I let the wife out in it.
I know.
Roundabout job, thingy in front in a BMW bottled out after 'going' and stopped, and she didn't. Prang. Superficial damage, but all the plastic bits broke and one of the 'ears' of the bonnet (either side of the grille) got bent. No damage to any mechanical bits.
With gracious help from ScorpioMike the bumper and grille are replaced, but it can't be finished due to the bent bonnet. And the bumper is silver which actually looks quite good against the rest of the red paintwork, but needs to be painted.
I'm trying to replace the bonnet rather than repair and repaint, but haven't been able to so far. I'm working away from home which completely snookers me time wise. Long way away....India.
So.
I have bought another Scorp, and cannot keep this one any more.
CAN SOMEONE TAKE IT AND DO THE NEEDFUL as they say here.
I'd like something for it, but am aware of values. It really is exceptional but for the damage described. This is breaking my heart, but I have committed to another Cosworth, and although that's not bad, will probably give me grief in the end, but I'm going ahead with that one, rather than the red one.
I'm back next week, so can give detailed answers and photos then, after the 10th. It must be saved, somehow. I'm in Ottershaw, near J11 of the M25.
Over to you guys.

Jeff. That car is well known to many of us who used to meet at Badgers Mount in Kent. It was one of the finest of it's kind. Immaculate in every respect.
It has to be saved! :o

Yes, and still is apart from what I've described. The thing is, it is probably only worth £500 if complete, and the required repairs are likely to cost more than that unless someone is able to do it themselves. I'm just hoping someone on here will step in, or offer me some affordable storage until I get back from this hell hole that is Delhi.
I just can't co-ordinate anything like this, from here.
Not holding out much hope, tbh....

I know someone in the Winchester area with a good bonnet if that's any help.  PM me if you want his phone number.

As Jeff says, this is a very nice car, definitely worth saving.
I have a spare bonnet available - it even matches the front bumper  ;)

Hi guys
Hey - this is just a car, kids are more important....but.....well....

Scorpabilly, is it pepper red do you know? If it is, put me in touch. The problem is the painting of, unless it's a DIY job (which I'm capable of but not now!).
