Title: 24 valve Header Tank Post by Nunnspoet on Oct 30th, 2017, 8:22am Good morning folks. The sun is shining and my red Cossie is on the road with the Rad topped up and sporting a replacement Header Tank thanks to P J 8). The long hunt is over and I can enjoy this excellent car without continually glancing at the Temp gauge. Chuffed!! Interestingly, she has always suffered from the Heater not maintaining Temp, no doubt an airlock. I have tried all the current remedies to date with not much success. Well this time I raised the whole of the drivers side by simply putting those wheels onto the kerb raising that side aprox. 4 inches, started her up and let her warm up on tick-over. As the pipe that runs from the Temp gauge to the Header Tank warmed up I took hold of it and I could feel the air bubbles as they rose. When, finally the slight pulsating sensation stopped - no more air - I revved the Engine a few times, checked for more air and left her to cool down overnight. In the morning there was no drop of Coolant level so I took her for a good 20 mile drive and one of the first things I noticed was that the Heater kept warm very well, not perfect but getting there. Much, much better than ever before. I don't suspect any blockage as she will reach high Temp. It is nice and cold this a.m. so I might just put a couple of 2" blocks on top of the pavement to raise her just that bit more and repeat the above. Happy week everyone. Mike :D |
