Title: Bty warning light Post by Nunnspoet on Feb 7th, 2018, 1:21pm On my 24 valve Cossie estate, when I switch the Ignition on the dash lights come on and go out as they should, except the red Bty light which stays on? It goes out when I start up and stays out. Occasionally when I turn the Ignition on the needles will flick but this does not always happen. The bty is only about 4 months old. It is a Varta E38 as recommended by "Tanya Btys." How do I solve my problem folks? Mike |

Title: Re: Bty warning light Post by Torbayboy on Feb 7th, 2018, 1:49pm Hello, make sure your battery terminals are tight and not corroded, needle flick is a sign of lack of battery power. But as you have a new battery just check everything is connected particularly on the earth side and all secure, clean out any debris from the battery drain on the mounting shelf also. If still bad go back to garage and get them to check battery is fine and charging rate is good. You can get a reading from the dash for some of this just hold in the trip button and see relevent item on here to explain the codes . Hope this helps Roy |

Title: Re: Bty warning light Post by Simmo on Feb 7th, 2018, 2:00pm Mike, I think This (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/instreset.htm) is what Roy is directing you to. You can see the charging rate by selecting the relevant mode. ;) |

Title: Re: Bty warning light Post by Tompion on Feb 7th, 2018, 4:07pm Mike, Remember if you do an instrument reset (to check voltage etc) the needles will always flick round next time you turn on the ignition - so always turn off & on after a reset otherwise you may misinterpret flicking needles the next day or whenever you next use the car. Title: Re: Bty warning light Post by PJDavis on Feb 7th, 2018, 10:02pm I wonder if there is a bit of damp around that near-side fuse-box? Or a bit more than damp? |
