Title: Heater/AC fan
Post by QuentinG on Jul 24th, 2019, 10:38pm
Another little thing to ask if I may, the fan has started whistling on its Auto and low speeds, you notice it particularly after coming to a halt and then it clears,
just wondered if that's how they all are, it's a sign of something bad developing, and whether attending to the fan is a big job.
I did look in the Air Conditioning section but couldn't see anything on this.

The fan bearings can squeak especially with aircon on in hot weather. Mine does it from time to time, if I turn aircon off for a few minutes it usually goes away & may/may not come back when I turn aircon back on.

The commutator on the blower fan can wear quite badly. To get at the fan the proper way involves having the aircon drained so you can disconnect the pipes. The other way is to take a hacksaw to the plastic case as shown here:

I posted pictures of the wear on my blower motor here:

Great, thanks I think it is the first scenario because it is not doing it now it has cooled down.
