Title: Rear reclining seats
Post by theogrenietis on Mar 7th, 2020, 6:32pm
Hi,

I had the chance to take a look at the Granada Scorpio rear reclining seat mechanism and I understood that it is actually really easy to fit the mechanism to the frog eye scorpio. Question is, has anybody done this? Why isn`t everybody doing this update because it is a serious gain in comfort. Also, maybe someone has some intel on why the frog eye never came with rear reclining seats?

I fitted them on my previous Scorpio, you'll find posts of other owners fitting them.

I seem to remember BAZ was the first one to fit them about 10/12 years ago and he did quite a good write up for it. If I can find the article I will post a link back, but it is quite and easy job... apparently

It was me and it was easy... however back then, there were plenty of the MK3's in the scrapyards to get the parts off.

Wining to the switch is taken from the wiring to the electric front seats, just literally spliced into the looms at the side of each front seat.

Then you remove the fixed rear seat stud and replace it with the motor assembly and fit the trim cover and attach the wiring loom to the switch.

That's about it really... there are no additional fuses or relays to install....

The switch fits into the plastic trim piece at the side of the seat. If you can get the ones already cut out that's a bonus, but if you look on the rear of the ones on your Scorpio, there is a template line to allow you to cut out the exact shape

Sorry this has taken a while to respond by the way :)

Even though I didn`t receive an answer from you, I did everything as you said. Only thing to mention is that the side bolster had to be cut with a knife, because the seat pin has to move. Mk2 scorpios and granadas had a slot cutout in the side bolsters and a plastic shield over it, to accommodate the moving pin.
