Title: Welding Post by a900one on Jul 8th, 2020, 10:03am Need to weld a small hole in the n/s sill. Is there any stuff, wax oil etc from new or is ok to weld with normal level of risk. Tin worm sneaked in from inside :(. Gerald. |

Title: Re: Welding Post by PJDavis on Jul 11th, 2020, 11:05pm Weld-away. The inside is dry. Grind away everything on the outside, and this will show you how dry the inner sills are. The problem is around the drain-holes I bet? Be careful of the heat on the carpets about the inside area, and ALWAYS have a helper / fire-watcher when welding, ready with a means of extinguishing. ALWAYS disconnect alternator and battery, some people say not to bother, I say, disconnect! |

Title: Re: Welding Post by a900one on Jul 16th, 2020, 6:06pm Hi PJ I have done the job now and as you say all nice and dry. And yes just by a drain hole. I always have the garden hose on standby and keep checking if there is heat/hot spot above where I am welding. The last time I had a watcher he went awol and the car was on fire, put out with hose ok. I use a sealy welding cap, which seems very good, so I dont disconnect anything. |
