Title: Re: software please. Post by Vulcan on Sep 10th, 2004, 5:01pm It used to be in a posting on this board before the trouble, I downloaded it from the link and the bookmark I have for it is..... http://www.obd-2.com/ I can't be 100% certain but I think I would only have bookmarked it if this is where I got it. Someone may come along and confrim or otherwise. |

Title: Re: software please. Post by ron_c on Sep 11th, 2004, 7:25pm OK. I've got the software from OBD-2 and another version that my smart son fond but I cannot get the software to recognise the interface. I've checked the leads and plugs and also accessed the back of the connector in the car to check supply etc. and all seems well. I have tried both com ports including the one that works with the modem and rebooted several times etc. The lead that I have is probably one of many varieties that exist and consists of a short com lead into a small black box about 2" square and then via a blue lead to a cat 5 connector into a made up plug for the car OBD connector. It all seems sound and I've checked continuity into and out of the box as far as possible without circuitry. The circuit consists of one chip only and 4 transistors etc. That's all that I can tell so ... Does anyone recognise the interface or can anyone offer hope please? Thanks in advance, Ron. |

Title: Re: software please. Post by daven on Sep 12th, 2004, 6:32pm Hi Ron, Did you get the serial number for the software when you bought it? Daven |

Title: Re: software please. Post by ron_c on Sep 12th, 2004, 7:09pm Full Marks!!! I hadn't recognised the significance of the number supplied and, as an ex mainframe business software writer I hadn't expected anything as illogical as that method of unlocking the software. Never mind, I'm now up and running (or staggering with a pronounced limp) and I've got codes 0102 (I disconnected the MAF as a test a few days ago), 1131,0171,0734 and 1761. First, I've got to work out how to clear the old codes and if that's as logical as the serial number it may take some time. I've also got to wait until my son isn't looking so I can nick his laptop. Many thanks to Scorpio-man and Daven, Ron. |

Title: Re: software please. Post by ron_c on Sep 18th, 2004, 11:45pm I'm amazed how much useful information is available on this site and from other members. Thanks fellers. It's all beginning to make sense but has an OBD lead ever been cited in divorce procedings? I may have to go gently from now on. Ron. |

Title: Re: software please. Post by Vulcan on Sep 19th, 2004, 1:47am It's not the odb... it's the Scorp that will give your relationship major grief.. ;D "you love that car more than me"... no dear just about the same really... well maybe it has the edge occasionally.... ;D ;D ;D |

Title: Re: software please. Post by ron_c on Sep 19th, 2004, 10:02am A few years ago...maybe. Even now as a third car if I could get a decent one but you lot seem to have 'em all. Unfortunately she is now the proud owner of a new Picasso (did I really say that) as a retirement present and 60mpg and 3 years warranty etc.. along with most of the Scorpio style goodies is going to take some beating for going to the shops. It's the 3 years warranty and 60mpg that really damage the chances. Oh! and the colour. She hates red and the last 4 granny/scorps have been red and I can only find decent ones in.....red. :( Ron |

Title: Re: software please. Post by ron_c on Oct 7th, 2004, 6:44pm Back again! I've now done about 750 miles since I cleared the codes and I've suffered all of the usal MAF type problems - slipping, loss of OD, OD light flashing, rough changes...you name it and.. guess what. Not a single error code. If there was one for cursing or banging of head against steering wheel I am sure that one would have shown but nothing, not even a whimper. Aaaaagh! If it didn't look absolutely brand new I'd have changed the MAF months ago but I just wanted to prove something. I have tried to run the program while driving monitoring speed, revs, MAF and throttle but the program keeps telling me that it has found the interface and waiting for an OK before doing it again. Sorry to go on but really, all I want to know is if a faulty MAF is likely to cause a fault code. I intend to stick with this as and when time allows so sometime before I go to the home for the hopeless I hope to at least understand why this frustrated control system has a preference for third gear. Ron. |

Title: Re: software please. Post by ron_c on Oct 9th, 2004, 7:47pm Thanks HTH, I had a P0102 when I first got the interface working but that was probably because I had disconnected the MAF for a test run - Gears rough but reliable. After 2 weeks assorted driving there is still nothing showing. It begins to look as if I shall be forced to swallow my principles and go for a MAF swop... but not quite yet. Ron. |

Title: Re: software please. Post by Boblavens on Jun 20th, 2005, 8:19pm It should give a code fault number, but I just Cleaned mine with a squirt of Carb cleaner and "Low and behold the car ran like it had a new Box in it. It originally had "A Slip" at about 7o ish on the way home from buying it. Bob |
